Imphal, February 03 2013 :
Four goods laden trucks coming from Guwahati to Imphal along NH-2 have been reportedly detained by suspected armed cadres of NSCN-K over their annual road tax demand from Kohima town area.
According to reports received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the four trucks were transporting different items when the suspected armed cadres of NSCN-K cadres detained them while passing through Kohima.
Among the four trucks, the one bearing registration no.NL02G/3952 was intercepted by armed cadres numbering around 4/5 of them when it reached Kohima town on January 14 last.
The armed cadres forcefully drove the truck to a safer place and told the driver to hand over Rs 20 lakhs as road tax to them failing which the truck would not be released at all.
The ill-fated truck belongs to one Md Rahidur of Sora in Thoubal district.
The truck, however, was finally released last Friday after being held up for almost 17 days in the captivity of the armed cadres and it reached Imphal yesterday.
It is not known, whether the truck was released after exchange of money or with some warnings.
Even though one of the four trucks detained by suspected armed cadres of NSCN-K have been released unharmed, the other three trucks are still in the custody of the armed cadres.
The armed cadres have reportedly threatened the handyman and driver of the released truck not to inform the Police or media about the incident.
Meanwhile, another Imphal bound truck (NL01K/2407) coming from Guwahati which was hijacked by cadres of a Naga UG group from Lahorijan in Dimapur is still traceless.
The truck was carrying iron rods for N Steel and it belongs to one Jayprakash Jaiswal of Kalibari, Majorkhul in Imphal.
On the other hand, bodies of two persons, one suspected to be a driver and the other a handyman were found in a jungle near Sakhaba village, 45 kms north-east of Kohima town.
