The All Manipur United Club�s Organization (AMUCO) and the Monitoring group on Territorial Integrity of Manipur have strongly condemned the extension of ceasefire to parts of Manipur.
Talking to the newsmen, the chairman of the monitoring Group on Territorial Integrity of Manipur and Human Rights Activist advocate Khaidem Mani tonight said that the report of extending ceasefire between the NSCN (IM) and Govt of India to parts of Manipur will come into effect from August 1 this year as per news report received here.
The step to extend ceasefire to Manipur is the violation of political rights of the people of Manipur, he said charging that �Atal Bihari Vajpayee led union government�s stand to extend ceasefire to Manipur anti � people anti �Manipuri and anti-national.
The step is completely against the sentiments of the people, he added.
The stand of the Indian government should he withdrawn in the interest of the people.
Mr.Mani appealed saying failing which they have to face the consequences.� Terming the Centre�s approval over him extension of ceasefire between Naga rebels and Indian government as another merger agreement status similar to that of 1949, Mr.Khaidem Mani called upon the people of Manipur to take up steps politely and politically and politically to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
He also appealed to all the people belonging to 31 indigenous communities residing in the state not to indulge in any form of violence and unwanted incidents in the coming days.
The senior member of the Monitoring Group and General secretary of Democratic Revolutionary People�s Party Mr.RK Anand who took part in the press conference while high lighting the sentiments of the Manipuris in preserving the territorial Integrity of the state said that the approval of the India government in extending ceasefire to Manipur is almost similar to that of signing annexation of Manipur to Indian union in 1949.Mr.Anand also questioned, what is the political and social rights of the Manipuris have been violated by the Government of India since the annexation of Manipur to the India union.
�We�re political prisoners.� Expressing the sentiments of the people in preserving the integrity of Manipur.
Mr.Anand said, Indian Govt wants to disintegrate the Territorial Integrity of 2000 year old boundary of Manipuris.
Expressing apprehension over the disintegration of Manipur after the implementation of the extension of ceasefire to the state, Advocate Anand appealed to the NSCN (IM) that all the hill areas of Manipur belong to all the Manipuris which comprise 31 different communities.
He however agreed that only the religion divides us all.
Let the whole world and India knows that Manipuris have heir won right in the hill areas of the state�, he averted.
Describing the step of the central government as �pre-mature� and �second political blunder,� he asked the government of India to withdraw their stand in the Interest of the people living here.
The president of AMUCO and convenor of the Monitoring Group, Mr.Ito Tongbram while expressing fear over the announcement of the extension of the cease-fire to the Naga inhabited areas of Assam and Manipur with effect from August 1 next, said that the step is not appropriate at this juncture but to withdraw it in the interest of the people of Manipur.
Stating that AMUCO is not only for the Meiteis but for all communities residing in Manipur, he said �People�s stand will be AMUCO�s stand.� Remaining of the two mass relies held in on August 4, 1997 and September 28 last year to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Mr.
