The cease work strike launched by the postal employees of the State since June 2 demanding the transfer of the Director, Postal Services Manipur has largely affected the postal services in the State.
There is no sign of a let up as the employees have resolved to continue the strike till the director is transferred.
Employees today said that they will not retract from the stand taken on June.
Memorandum demanding the transfer of director George Ninan have also been sent to the Director General of Post, Communication Minister Ram Vilas Paswan and Chief Post Master General North East Circle, Shillong.
They further appealed to the Central Government to concede to their demand for the transfer of the director at the earliest keeping in view the hardships likely to be faced by students studying outside the state.
Employees stopped distributing letters and closed down all important counters in the Postal Department affecting dispatch of letters, important documents and money orders to outside the State.
A statement of the third and fourth class employees union said the employees had launched the indefinite pen down strike to protest alleged high-handedness and indiscriminate transferring and posting of lower class employees by the new postal director, George Ninan.
Ninan was not immediately available for comment.
