Students observe first death anniv of O Laaba

A large number of students today staged a protest at Merina beach, Chennai in memory of Okram Laaba, who was found dead in his hostel room, on the occasion of his first death anniversary.
According to Santosh, one of the members of the Organising Committee, students from north east are being harassed and even killed.
However, in spite of repeated requests, Tamil Nadu government has not taken up any action.
Okram Laaba of Yaiskul Yumnam Leikai, who was found dead in his hostel room no- 111, Padur, Kellambakam, Tamil Nadu in a suspicious manner with his face covered by a plastic carry bag.
He was a student of BCA in Hindustan College of Arts and Science, Rajiv Gandhi Salai (MOR) Padur Kellambakham, Chennai.
Okram Indramani, father of Laaba, informed that the post mortem report revealed the cause of death as suffocation and viscera negative of drug and poisoning.
The right arm of the body was also found completely dislocated at the shoulder joint at the time of preparing for performing the last rites.
Refuting the theory floated about possible suicide, heartbroken father alleged that Ayappan, roommate of his deceased son and hostel warden K.Balasubramaniam are two suspects in connection with the death of his son.
Indramanu also appealed to all student organizations to support in fighting for justice to his son.
