Four go missing

Four people including the newly elected chief of Lamkang Khunou village, Chandel district have disappeared any trace while their families have expressed strong suspicion of abduction by some unknown persons.
After the expiry of the tenure of Lamkang Khunou village chief J Khalnung, the villagers elected Th Rengthang s/o Wangtiger as their new chief, informed a source.
Subsequently, the newly elected village chief filed an application to the SDO Chandel to issue an order regarding his appointment as village chief.
In connection with the same matter, Th Rengthang (41) together with three other persons went to the Chandel SDO office today in a Maruti van to obtain an order regarding his appointment as village chief.
But they disappeared without any trace.
When family members dialled their mobile phones, all the phones were found switched off.
The three persons who went with Rengthang (41) are K Khaldon (45) s/o Darting, Th Khalwar (58) and Th Angsui (48).Even though no complaint has been made to police regarding their disappearance till the time of filing this report, families of the four have decided to block all forms of vehicular traffic on Imphal-Moreh highway with effect from tomorrow morning till the four are released.
But the bandh would be relaxed for Myanmar delegates coming for the Manipur Sangai Festival, said the families.
