Imphal, November 20 2018:
The semi-final line up of the above 35 years men's singles competition at the ITF Senior Grade-4 Tennis Tournament being organised by Manipur Tennis Association under the supervision of Indian Tennis Federation at tennis Court of Officers' Club at Lamphelpat, Imphal West completed today.
Dilip Mohanty will take on Syed Zaidi in the first semi-final match while Nelson Jatin Kumar will lock horns with Kannan Sethu in the second semi-final match.
In a quarter final clash of the category, Dilip Mohanty edged out Manipur's Khangembam Indrakumar Singh 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 to move into the semi-finals.
Zaidi S on the other hand sealed a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Surendra Allam to seal the semi-final berth.
Nelson Jatin Kumar outlasted Dinesh Chandra Suyal 6-4, 6-2 in another quarter final match to set up semi-final clash with Kannan Sethu who overcame Marwaha Deepak 6-1, 6-3 today in another quarter final match.
In the above 35 years doubles competition, Nelson Jatin Kumar and Deepak Marwaha defeated Indrakumar Khangembam and Dinesh Chandra 6-3, 6-1 to cruise into semi-final round.
Sanjai Kumar and Syed Zaidi sealed a 4-6, 6-4 (10-4) over L Satyajit Singh and L Jiten Meitei to set up semi-final clash with Kannan Sethu and Ratnessh Sridhar pair which overcame Surendra Allam and Lakhsmipathi Tulugu 6-3, 6-0 today in another clash.
Above 45 years category
The quarter final line of the above 45 years singles competition were also completed today.
Tule Thongbam made it to the last 8 round of the category with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ningtamba Rajkumar while Satya Kumar overcame S William Lamhno 6-4, 6-3 to set up quarter final clash with Vijay Kumar who outlasted Daichuilung Panmei 6-2, 6-2 in another prequarter final match.
S Reddy Dandala managed a 6-4, 6-4 win over A Rastogi to set up last 8 round clash with Kulwant Singh who outshone Dutta Gupta 6-3, 6-1 in the second round clash staged today.
In a above 45 years doubles event, Shibashis Dutta Gupta and Sameer Garg outlasted Daniel Pamei and Ningtamba Rajkumar 6-0, 6-2 to move into quarter final stage while Randeep Barua and Pankaj Kumar had a 7-5, 2-6 (10-8) win over Huidrom Sanatomba and S William Lamhno.
Navin Agarwal and Panmei Daichuilung also moved into the quarter final round with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Bulbul Das and Satya Prakash today.
Above 55 years category
Sougrakpam Ranjit Singh of Manipur saw off Anil Kumar Kaushal 6-2, 7-5 in the first round clash of the above 55 years singles competition but ended his journey with a 0-6, 0-6 loss to Bhag Nand Singh Negi in the second round.
In the round 2 clashes played today, Jain Pawan overwhelmed Y Ibotombi Singh 6-0, 6-1; Kuldeep Singh edged out Sunil Sood 4-6, 7-5, 6-3; Rajan Beri thumped Mridulal Barkakoti 6-3, 6-0; Sanjai Kumar edged out Moirangthem Dilip 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (6); Aditya Karnani sealed a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 and Sharad Tak outlasted Oinam Nabakishore 6-0, 6-0.In the above 55 years doubles competition, Aribam Lakshmibanta and Dr Moirangthem Mutum defeated Gambhir TS and Harish Kumar 6-4, 6-4 to cruise into the quarter final before Leishemsana Chingangbam and Sashankar Hidangmayum had a similar 6-4, 6-4 win over Kuldeep Singh and Sunil Sood.
Anil Kumar Kaushal and Gurvinder Singh also moved into the last 8 round with a 6-1, 6-2 win over O Nabakishore and BK Sonowal and will meet Aran Aggarwal and Aditya Karnani which sealed a 6-2, 6-1 win against Mridul Mdridulal and Bharat Phukan.
Y Ibotombi and H Ibotombi of Manipur also registered a 6-1, 7-5 win over Ranjit Sougrakpam and Indrakumar Thounaojam to advance into the last 8 round.
