Arms license holders instructed to deposit their license

Imphal West District Magistrate has ordered all the arms license holders of Imphal West district to deposit their arms license to the Branch Officer (Arms), Imphal West, within a period of 10 days.
An order issued by the DC today explained that every licensing authority and renewing authority while granting license or renewing a license have to enter the data of the record locally in an electronic format specified by the Central Government, apart from entering the data in the NDAL system which will generate a Unique Identification Number (UIN) and explained that from April 1, 2019, any arms license without UIN will be considered invalid.
It further instructed the licensing authority, while granting or renewing a license or while providing any allied services to any licensee as per the provisions of the Arms Rule 2016, to ensure that the data of the approved transaction is simultaneously updated in the electronic format locally and on the NDAL system under its log in ID, provided that the licensee shall not be held accountable for failure on part of the licensing authority to update such data in the electronic format.
Stating that the licensing authority has to ensure compliance of delivery of different services to the arms license holders within the aforementioned period, the DC mentioned that it is necessary to impound arms license and ordered all the arms license holders of the district to deposit their arms licenses to the Branch Officer (Arms) of the district within 10 days.
The deposited arms license may be withdrawn on the next working day from the date of submission of the same, the order explained.
