Imphal, January 12 2020:
All types of Government payments including employees' salaries and pensioners' pension would be done through RBI's e-Kuber system.
In accordance to an office memorandum issued by Principal Secretary (Finance in-charge) Rakesh Ranjan on December 2 last year, the system has been already initiated in Imphal East Treasury office on pilot basis.
It is said that the same system would be introduced in all other Treasury offices from next month.
The new system is aimed at obviating the shortcomings of the existing system such as delay in transmission of fund to actual payee, risk of paper vouchers being missed in course of its physical transmission from Treasury to Treasury-linked banks, delay in receiving physical scroll ad vouchers by Treasuries from banks for timely accounting etc.
Under the new system, Government payments/disbursements would be made electronically through the bank account of each payee.
Payments via e-Kuber in case of CDA and withdrawals from Government account 8443 would be implemented once e-Kuber payment is introduced in all Treasuries, according to the office memorandum.
