Housewife set on fire by in-laws

Imphal, March 02 2013 :
A 24-year-old housewife is struggling for her life in a hospital here after her husband along with his family allegedly burnt her.
Her body got 40 percent burns, according to doctors.
The incident happened at Lamlongei Mantripukhri in Imphal West district in Manipur on February 27 around 7:30 pm.
She was taken to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here the same night.
Soshima Keishing, wife of Chandal Kal was allegedly set on fire by her husband along with the mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
"My hands were tight and mouth covered with a cloth and then they poured kerosene on my whole body and after that they set me on fire," Soshima told Newmai News Network on Saturday.
Her husband and mother-in-law have been taken into custody of the Heingang Police Station.
However, the sister-in-law is absconding, according to police.
Chandal Kal, a native of Silchar in Assam, is working for Imphal Tulihal Airport.
The couple married 4 years back and now they have
a 3-year-old daughter.
Members of Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS), including its president Sapamacha Jadumani visited the victim at the hospital on Saturday.
Strongly reacting to the extreme domestic violence meted out to Soshima, Jadumani expressed shock over the incident.
