Explosives seized, UGs nabbed

A huge quantity of explosives, including Chinese hand grenades smuggled from Myanmar for the banned UG outfit PREPAK has been seized and arrested another three hardcore members of the outfit by a combined team of Manipur police commando 40 Assam Rifles personnel.
M Rajen Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Imphal East while briefing the media at his office here on Saturday, said a combined team of the district police commando and 40 AR personnel arrested a hardcore member of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak during a counter-insurgency operation carried out in and around Bashikhong Kongba Irong last midnight.
One Chinese hand grenade and one mobile handset were recovered from his possession, the SP said.
After the arrest, another cadre of the outfit was also arrested by the police at Chingmeirong, identifying them as Ngangbam Mangal Meitei aged 29 of Sangakpam bazaar, originally from Matai Awang Leikai and Ngangbam Inaocha aged 38, a resident of Matai Awang Leikai, he said.
One Chinese hand grenades, three PEK explosives marked as 'Charge Demolition-M112' weighing about 800 gm each, one remote control device along with battery, six detonators with wires, two circuits and two mobile handsets were recovered from Mangal, the SP added.
On further examination of the duo, it came to light that one Dinesh of PREPAK from Tekcham area, but now in Myanmar had handed over the above explosive materials and devices, including the grenades recovered from the possession of Inao through one unknown person about 4-5 days ago, he further added.
