Jana Kalyan Parishad warns Govt it will block NH 37

Jana Kalyan Parishad, Barak Valley Assam has warned Manipur Government that it will impose a 72 hour economic blockade on National Highway No 37 starting from January 31 if the Government fails to rescue Nur Hussain Laskar (22) who was allegedly abducted from Jiribam on January 9 .
Nur Hussain Laskar (22) s/o Sorof Uddin Laskar of Lalapani Part II (Bagkhal), Jririghat Cachar, Assam, a driver by profession was reportedly abducted by unidentified persons from Jiri bridge, Jiribam at around 9.30 am of January 9 .
He was reportedly taken to Noney in a hired van.
The blockade threat was announced before the media during a press meet held today at Balika Vidyalaya LP School, Jirighat Cachar.
As the Government has failed to meet the 48 hours deadline to produce the abducted driver the blockade threat has been issued, said Jiban Talukdar, president of the Jana Kalyan Parishad.
The deadline was served in a memorandum submitted to the Government on January 29 .
Earlier the Jana Kalyan Parishad had met officials and a memorandum was earlier submitted to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.
The memorandum of January 29 was served later.
Despite the earlier assurance, Government has failed to trace Nur Hussain, said Jiban.
The 72 hr economic blockade from January 31 will be followed by more stringent agitations, he warned.
Ex president of Jirighat GP Rajen Sharma claimed that two individuals namely Dilip Das and Poresh Das disappeared in Manipur about 4/5 years back and till now the Government of Manipur has failed to trace their whereabouts.
