Imphal, January 31 2018:
As the construction of Thoubal Dam Project's canals has not been completed, the State Government would be seeking approval of the PMO with regard to its plan to get the project inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visits the State in March.
Chief Secretary RR Rashmi today reviewed the projects which would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
The PM will also open the Indian Science Congress at Manipur University in March, informed a source.
Altogether 19 projects which may be inaugurated by the Prime Minister or lay foundation stones were reviewed today.
Even though major portions of Thoubal Dam project have been completed, its canals are for from complete.
It is estimated construction of the canals would take another five years.
As such, the State Government would seek permission from the PMO whether only the completed portions can be inaugurated or not.
Taking due note that the ongoing construction work of Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri is also far from complete, the meeting discussed about difficulties in inaugurating the incomplete building, informed a source.
The source also informed that Imphal-Jiribam highway has been dropped from the Prime Minister's inauguration programmes.
Chandel district sports complex, Tengnoupal district sports complex and Luwangshangbam sports complex may be ready for inauguration but the water supply schemes of Kangla, Khuman Lampak and Chinga would be certainly ready for inauguration by the time Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the State, said the source.
The meeting further discussed about releasing liabilities for projects which are being readied for inauguration, added the source.
