YFA, SMC, CYO urge Govt to repair road

Youth Forward Association (YFA), Chingtham; Samphabi Memorial Club (SMC), Sapam and Creative Youth Organisation (CYO), Sapam have urged the State Government and department concerned to repair the 4.5 km long road connecting Khongjom Bazar and Sapam.
Speaking to media persons, YFA president Chingtham Kanta said that the road which was constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in 2016, is 'filled with potholes, today'.
According to guidelines of the scheme, the road must be repaired every year for five years from the date of construction, he said and claimed that the said guideline was followed for only two years.
Saying that the dilapidated conditions of the road are causing great inconvenience to the locals of Sapam, Chingtham and Tekcham, Chingtham Kanta asked contractor Jesi Kamei and authority concerned to repair the road at the earliest.
He also said that the scheme for the road will end in September 2021 .
