Imphal, May 28 2013:
Terming the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh led Congress Government in the State as a complete failure with no welfare strategies taken up for the people of the State, JD (U) has charged the Congress government of giving free hand in almost all works of every department for corruption to reign high.
Talking to media persons, M Tombi, President of JD (U), stated that the people of the state are suffering like hell with no leader to look after their welfare.
With corruption reigning high in almost all departments, red-tapism has become the trend of the day.
In-spite of such practices prevalent in every department, the State Government is remaining silent and even providing security to such departments so that 'corruption business' can be carried on without any fear.
He observed that the assurance of the Congress Government to provide 18 hours of interrupted power supply to the general public has become a 'never fulfilling promise' .
Some parts of the State are being provided 24 hours uninterrupted power while some parts hardly received 2 to 3 hours of electricity in a day.
As such, those individuals and groups operating small scale industries have failed in the State.
The State Government has also turned a deaf ear to the grievances of the people of the State in general and the transporters community in particular, over the pitiful condition of all the NHs in the State.
On account of the pathetic condition of the NHs, the drivers continue to face various problems.
No Highway Protection Force has been instituted and security personnel deployed along the stretch of NHs for the welfare of drivers and passengers, even after various demands for setting up of a Highway Protection Force have been put forward to the State Government, he lamented.
Tombi also pointed out the problems being faced by the street venders who are earning their livelihood by selling goods along the roadside and said that the State Government is not even thinking of providing space for them in the top floor of the three Ima Keithels which is remaining vacant at present.
The anti-people, anti-poor attitude of the Congress is not only visible in the State but also in the Centre with the UPA Government resorting to all sorts of anti-people policies governance.
As such, NDA is demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he added.
He went on to state that a peaceful and developed form of society is not possible under the Congress Government.
"There is no hard and fast rule that a political party which has no MLA in the Assembly can work for the welfare of the people" he asserted and added that JD (U), though has no MLA will continue to work for the development of the society with sincerity.
