Imphal, September 27 2016:
Mayang Imphal Constituency Development Organisation publicity secretary Bankimchandra Chongtham has refuted the allegation of opening fire by Education Minister Kh Ratankumar's escort party and manhandling of a man at Mayang Imphal Thana Anilongbi.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, Bankimchandra said that an election meeting for the intending candidate K Robindra was held at the residence of Mayang Imphal Municipal Council Ward No 3 Councillor Wangjam Janeshori on September 24 .
Even as the meeting was going on, one Meinam Khellendro went to the residence of Janeshori's neighbour to give vehicle key, he said.
Bankimchandra further said that Wangjam Somen and his younger brother Sunil allegedly thrashed Khellendro at the house.
He said that neither Minister Ratankumar's escort party opened fire nor his political worker manhandled anybody on the day at the locality.
He said that BJP workers must provide evidence if the escort party and political workers of the Minister resorted to any such activity.
He said that it is unfortunate that Mayang Imphal police had not taken any action although an FIR had been lodged regarding thrashing of Khellendro.
Bankimchandra also urged the concerned not to spread rumours which may create altercations during election time.
