Imphal, June 15 2013 :
President of Janta Dal (United), Manipur State Unit M Tombi has said that the tribal people of the State should also be in the forefront of ILP movement as many non-locals have settled in hill areas on pretext of conducting businesses.
He was addressing media persons at the office of JD (U) Manipur at Babupara here today.
Tombi further said that non-locals have settled in most parts of the State.
Many of them have even married tribal women.
Inner Line Permit System is required to check the growing population of non-locals, he noted.
He contended that the issue of ILP should not be concentrated only to valley regions.
The tribal people from far and wide in the hills should render utmost support in demanding the implementation of ILP System in the State.
State President also said that the decision of the State Assembly on ILP is welcomed by JD (U) and it would take active roles in urging the Centre for the implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State.
He decried the illegal activities being carried out by some UG outfits under Suspension of Operation (SoO) along the National Highways, and also demanded the Central and State government to set up Highway Protection Force along the vulnerable highways of the State.
Tombi further informed that the proposed joint meeting of 13 Political Parties on June 19 would be postponed for some days and the parties would soon bring out a common candidate for the coming Lok Sabha Election.
