The brutal act of killing of Loitam Richard has been taken up as a case of murder by the Karnataka state police and Dr Nara, Secretary, Manipur State Council, CPI has pressed the Karnataka Chief Minister to book the culprits at the earliest.
Addressing media persons at Irabot Bhawan here today, Dr M Nara said that the Chief Minister of Karnataka has informed him that he himself is not satisfied with the manner in which the state police are dealing with the case of Loitam Richard and has withdrawn the FIR case filed in connection with the death of Loitam Richard and has taken up the case as of murder.
Out of the four suspected students involved in the killing of Richard, two have managed to escape and the other two are still detained in the hostel, he added.
Dr M Nara further informed he had pressed the Karnataka Chief Minister, whom he had met, for arresting the suspected student killers namely Vishal Benerjee and Afzal Ali and interrogated them in order to get to the bottom of the case.
The two suspected student, who have escaped, should also be arrested at the earliest, he further demanded and asked for a CBI enquiry into the matter.
He further informed that the Karnataka Chief Minister has assured him that the case would be taken up at his level and discuss it with the Home Minister and the DGP.
Observing that the Left party is against the proposed NCTC, Dr Nara categorically stated that the CPI would under no circumstance agree to the proposal of setting up NCTC.
He also sharply reacted against the proposal of the Chief Minister to create post of Parliamentary Secretaries in the state saying that it is a means to console the left out Congress MLAs in the Cabinet Ministerial berth.
It will also be wastage of the state's fund.
Expressing discontentment over the demand of a separate Kukiland in the state of Manipur, Dr Nara said that it is an act to destroy the love and brotherhood among the different communities settling in Manipur.
