Free heart camp held

A free heart camp was conducted by Sky Hospital and Research Centre at the RIMS Road premises of the private medical centre today.
As chief guest of the camp inauguration programme, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai applauded the hospital's management for providing heart disease diagnosis and treatment facilities in the state thereby helping both the patients and their families to spend relatively less amount of money.
Noting that treatment cost of heart diseases is normally very high, she expressed hope that the hospital management would ensure treatment of patients from economically weaker section of the society at affordable amount.
With regard to the medical centre established by erstwhile London-based heart specialist namely Dr Shyamkishore Lairikyengbam, the Minister appreciated the doctor's decision to return to the State to not only share his vast experiences but also contribute his mite in serving heart patients.
MLA O Landhoni Devi, who presided over the programme opined that presence of heart specialists and heart treatment centres in the State is a sign of advancement in medical science.
Describing Dr Shyamkishore's initiative in setting up the Centre as a boon for the people with heart ailments, she also applauded the management for conducting the free heart camp and exuded confidence that organising such a camp would facilitate citizens of Manipur check their heart condition and avoid complications.
The hospital's management committee chairman Dr Shyamkishore and its deputy chairperson Dr L surbala highlighted heart diseases, need for early detection and treatment procedures.
