Guwahati, November 28 2012:
On the run since Operation Bajrang was launched on November 28, 1990, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) said it still has the appeal among the youths of Assam who have been joining it in droves during the last 12 months.
Chairman of Ulfa's anti-talks faction Abhijeet Asom claimed this while observing 'black day' on Wednesday to mark the army operation against it.
"People of Asom have not lost faith on our organization and this is evident from streams of boys and girls volunteering to join the Ulfa in last 12 months," he said in an emailed statement.
Abhijeet said that despite all out efforts to finish the Ulfa, dedicated youths have remained loyal to the outfit and shown the nerve to stand up against the 'Indian occupational forces'.
He added the sacrifice of 13,000 Assamese youths since April 1979 for the cause of Assam's sovereignty would not go in vain.
"On this special day, on behalf of my organization, I declare our firm commitment to continue fighting until we achieve our sovereignty goal," the Ulfa chairman said.
