Imphal, November 28 2012:
Condemning the alleged 'unruly conduct' of Minister Md Abdul Nasir at Sangai Festival where the Minister assaulted him in full public view, General Secretary of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Alam Azad has exclaimed the incident has a 'big shame' to Meitei Pangal community as a whole.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, Alam Azad asserted that the unwanted incident which took place at Sangai Festival was creation of Minister Md Abdul Nasir.
Alam Azad recalled that the incident took place while he along with MLA Amin Shah, Director MOBC RK Dinesh, Project Director Md Sallauddin and AR Hussein was having a plate of Chicken Chilly at Nepsa Halal Foods.
The Minister suddenly came shouting "Where is Alam Azad" .
"Before anything could be said, the Minister rushed to the place and beat me up saying "How dare you", "Don't you know I am a Cabinet Minister?", Alam Azad informed, adding that the Minister then ordered his escorts to arrest and beat him.
The Minister even went to the extent of ordering his escorts to shoot him; Alam Azad claimed.
He stated that Muslim community in the State was initially very glad that a Muslim MLA has been appointed as a Cabinet Minister.
But his attitude towards the Muslim people who have elevated him to his present status has totally shattered the hopes of the Muslim community.
Even though Minister did not feel ashamed of his conduct, the incident at Sangai Festival is indeed very shameful for the whole Muslim people, Alam Azad added.
