"Hep-C prevalence rate among prison inmates alarming"

Imphal, December 15 2017:
The prevalence rate of Hepatitis-C among the injecting drug user (IDU) inmates of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, has been recorded at an alarming rate of 50%, a statement from the Community Network for Empowerment (CoNE) said .
So far, it added, two rounds of awareness and screening camps on Hep-C had been organised by CoNE for the prison inmates of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa in association with Nirvana Foundation and technical assistance from Babina Diagnostics.
CoNE also drew the attention of the Govt with Hep-C rising at an dismaying rate in the state.
