State logs 12 deaths, 1003 new Covid cases

Imphal, July 28 2021:
The state on Wednesday reported 12 fatalities and 1003 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 7275 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 13.79 per cent showing slight decrease from Tuesday's 18.41 per cent.
With the drop in the daily positivity rate, the average positivity rate for the current month also witnessed a marginal fall from 15.86 per cent to 15.76 per cent.
As of Wednesday, the active caseload in the state has reached 10,922 out of which, 4876 (44.64 per cent) are in home isolation, 3124 (28.60 per cent), 1889 (17.30 per cent) in CCCs and 1033 (9.46 per cent) in hospitals.
Among those in hospitals, 139 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 436 patients are on oxygen support and 72 are on ventilator support.
On the other hand, 119 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Tuesday night, 47 beds (221CU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 78 (32 ICU/ HDU) beds in private hospitals, 6 beds in LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 162 (17 ICU/ HDU) in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1318 in different CCCs.
The state has so far recorded 66,424 positive cases and 1136 fatalities during the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw addition of 26,034 new cases and 360 fatalities out of which 7774 new cases and 86 fatalities were reported in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 1003 new cases included 1001 people (482 male & 519 female) from among the general population and 2 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
The positive cases were confirmed at RIMS (31), JNIMS (89), District Hospitals (660) and other testing centres (223) .
The cases from among the general population are from Imphal East 1221), Imphal West (264), Thoubal 48), Bishnupur (176), Kakching 45), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur 90), Chandel (25), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (31), Tengnoupal (1), Pherzawl (1), Noney (36), Kangpokpi (36), Kamjong (5) and Jiribam (3).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 12 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no information on the age and gender of the deceased has been shared by the committee.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (6), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (2), Kakching (1) and Kangpokpi (1), taking the cumulative number of deaths to 1510.Three of the 12 victims had received first dose vaccine and three did not have any co-morbid conditions.
In the last 24 hours, 871 patients were discharged from home isolation (375), RIMS (21), NIMS (8), CCCs (248) and CHICs (219).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 95,824 (general population - 91,850 and CAPF personnel - 3,974).Number of recovered cases is 83,392 (general population - 79,475 and CAPF personnel - 3,917) and number of active cases is 10,922 (general population - 10,870 and CAPF personnel - 52) .
The recovery rate is 37.02 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2251 D-type and 352 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 18,378 individuals were administered Covid vaccines on Tuesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated people has reached 10,66,680 including 1,85,728 who have got the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Meanwhile, 88 new positive cases were detected out of 569 samples tested from Tuesday 2 pm to Wednesday 2 pm in Kakching district, thus registering a positivity rate of 15.47 per cent.
Four of them were detected at Jivan Hospital and the remaining 84 at different government RAT sites.
The four cases detected at Jivan Hospital are from Tengnoupal (2) and Chandel district (2) while the 84 cases from Kakching district include 45 from Kakching Khunou and 25 from Wangoo Laipham.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (32,208), Imphal East (21,515), Thoubal (8099), Churachandpur (8090), Kangpokpi (2288), Tamenglong (2740), Bishnupur (6883), Senapati (1717), Ukhrul (1702), Kakching (5289), Chandel (1882), Noney (798), Tengnoupal (936), Jiribam (944), Kamjong (557) and Pherzawl (176).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (523), Imphal East (359), Thoubal (137), Churachandpur (131), Kangpokpi (49), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (138), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (17), Kakching (90), Chandel (27), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 30,881 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,608 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,43,908 tests per million population against the national average of 3,30,515 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the pass 24 hours, 7275 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 13.79 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.98 per cent.
