AR saves snake bite victim

Imphal, June 16 2012:
The 30 Assam Rifles of 9 sector under HQ IGAR (S) saved the life of a civilian namely Abung (25) son of Late Hitler a resident of Pungdongbam village, Imphal East today.
The individual was bitten by a venomous snake and was evacuated to MI Room of 30 Assam Rifles, Mantripukhri where he was given first aid.
Now the victim is in stable condition and is under continuous observation.
The speedy action of medication and resuscitation by the medical officer of 30 Assam Rifles played a significant role in saving the life of the victim, stated a press release of PRO IGAR (S) .
Meanwhle, a medical camp was organised by 37 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) at New Molanghat today.
A large number of villagers from New Molanghat and many other adjoining villages attended the camp.
The villager were diagnosed and medicine were provided at free of cost.
Approximately 120 patients were diagnosed and treated during the camp.
New Molanghat is one of farthest and remotest village in Chandel District along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Village headman of New Molanghat and near by village appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles and urged them for such assistance in future too.
In another occasion 36 Assam Rifles organised an awareness program on the prevention of drug abuse and illicit trafficiking at Tuitong village on June 15, the release added.
