AR interacts with villagers of Lungchai

Commandant of Kadamtala Bn of Assam Rifles under Haflong Sector of IGAR (East)visitedLungchai village and interacted with the villagers.
Located on a hilltop, the village is one of the remotest village in the Tamenglong district and during monsoon season, the poor condition of the existing road becomes deplorable cutting it off from the main road.
It takes 4 hours to reach the village by road in the dry season while, during the rainy season, it takes a tiring 7 hours walk from the NH 37.The troops of Kadamtala Battalion has been regularly visiting the village, and providing all necessary assistance.
The Commandant interacted with the villagers on various initiatives undertaken by the AR for youth, womenfolk and children for improving their lives by conducting awareness programmes on recruitment in Security Forces, medical camps to improve the overall health of the area, option for local girls to join Assam Rifles as Mahila soldiers etc.
He also enquired on the problems and issues faced by the villagers and assured them of providing all possible assistance.
The villagers requested for an AR outpost at the village to keep the Underground factions away so that peace and development prevails in the area.
The village committee, women association and locals lauded Assam Rifles for being always with them as the true 'Friends of the Hill People' and appealed for more such interactions in the near future.
