Tamenglong, July 04 2018:
Condemning the inaction of the concerned authorities in Tamei sub-division which has been cut off from the District Headquarters by a major landslide, the Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (All Liangmai Naga Students' Union) has appealed the Government to look into the matter and address the issue the sub-division has been facing over the past months at the earliest.
The students union in a statement today stated that other connectivities/roads have also been badly damaged.
Other roads that connect Tamei with the rest of villages -Tamei via Konphung, Konphung via Illeng and Tamei via Kuilong have been badly damaged, said a statement of the union yesterday.
The union lamented the 'indifferent' attitude of the authority concerned despite repeated appeals made.
In addition, the sub-division has been facing telecommunication network problems for quite sometime, said the statement of the students union.
The organisation informed that the telecom services have also snapped for more than a month in Tamei area without any alternative arrangements available to redress the issue while holding telecom service provider including BSNL responsible for the poor network.
As communication and development projects are in total disarray, the "Go to Village" programme of Manipur Government seem a distance dream for the people of Tamei area, the union said condemning the repeated cancellation of the GTV Mission in the sub-division.
The student organisation decried that the poor people of Tamei area have been surviving even without basic means when the entire country is being digitized under the "Digital India Campaign" launched by Indian Government.
The union urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and warned that it will launch intense agitation if the Government failed to address the issues at the earliest.
