Kakching, March 04 2019:
Sensing that illegal migrants in large numbers might get enrolled in the ongoing voter enrolment programme taking place at Jiribam district surreptitiously, All Kakching Students' Union (AKSU) appealed the District Administrator of Jiribam as well as the concerned minister to put strict measures so that no illegal immigrant get enrolled in the ongoing programme, said a press release issued by AKSU.
The statement questioned the emergence of large numbers of people in the ongoing voter enrolment programme, even though BLO and BLA have been conducting similar camp to enrol voters from time to time in the last couple of years.
AKSU also raised concerns about the negative fallout of the announcement of NRC list in Assam and the recent effort to implement CAB in the region that might have direct implication in the voter enrolment programme at Jiribam.
As such, the authority concerned and district administrator are oblized to take up solid steps or action to ensure that officials and staff engaged in the enrolment programme are doing their work with utmost sincerity, added the statement while cautioning that violent agitation will be launched in association JCILPS if they fail to do so.
