RIMS gets new lab

Imphal, February 29 2012:
RIMS took yet another giant step on Wednesday with inauguration of a DBT Healthcare Laboratory for molecular diagnosis in the Department of Microbiology.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof Ng Brajachand, Head of Department of Microbiology, observed that many changes have taken place in the Department since it became a separate Department on April 2, 1979 .
So far, 21 modern machineries have been installed in the department which is not still available in most medical colleges in Eastern India.
The latest laboratory facility would benefit HIV infected babies, Hepatitis-C and Tuberculosis patients among others.
Prof S Sekharjit, Director of RIMS noted that inauguration of the state of art facility has shown that the institute is not lagging behind other medical colleges.
Dr Pwan Sharma, Senior Consultant, New Delhi and Dr Gourangi Maitra, representative of Nodal Cell, Tezpur, who were also present at the inaugural function, appreciated the milestone achievements of RIMS in the field of diagnosis.
