Job card holders hit Chandel roads

Chandel, June 27 2013:
Responding to the call of Naga Chiefs' Association, Chandel (NCAC), thousands of job card holders took out a mass protest rally at Chandel district headquarters today to raise objection against implementation of 25% of the MGNREGS funds by the ADC members.
Prior to the protest rally, a public meeting was also held at the Mini Indoor Stadium of the district headquarters, during which many speakers including CNPO General Secretary Bd Betha, Naga Women Union Chandel General Secretary L Bliss and Chairman of the All Tribal Chiefs' and Public Grievances Forum, Chandel District Sng Lumdil strongly condemned and opposed the Governor's Order dated 5th November, 2012 which states that 25% of the MGNREGA funds shall be earmarked for proposal and implementation of MGNREGA works by Zila Parishads/Autonomous District Councils.
After the meeting, thousands of slogan shouting job card holders hit the road holding placards and festoons inscribed with wordings like, "ADC members does not represent the mandate of Chandel", "ADC members are socially boycotted by general Naga people", etc and headed towards the office of Deputy Commissioner Chandel where they submitting memorandum to the Chief Minister of Manipur through the Deputy Commission.
