Imphal - Myanmar car rally to boost tourism, trade

In an act to boost tourism and handicrafts production in the state, the state government will be organizing a car rally from Imphal to Moreh in association with North East Federation of International Trade very soon, said reliable source.
Government officials who went to sought permission from Myanmar government have informed the state government that Myanmar government has agreed with the proposal of the state to organise the car rally and the actual date and destination of the rally will be finalized soon, the source said.
Even though the actual destinations of the rally have not been finalized till yet, government is considering going through Yangon, Mandalay, Misot and Mursay during the rally.
For the purpose, the state government has already sanctioned an amount of Rs 10 lakh.
After successfully organizing the rally, the state government will press centre for direct air connection of Imphal with Mandalay and Changmei of Thailand.
Even though the participants of the rally are not finalized, many government officials of the different departments are likely to participate in the car rally.
Government is also considering participation of civilians from various walks of life to make the car rally a successful one, the source added.
