Training on Kharif rice cultivation held

A one day training programme on Management Practices for Cultivation of Kharif Rice for Increasing Farmer's Income was organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre under the Farmers' Club and NFSMRice FLD project at Taothong Multipurpose Development Farmer's Club, Lamsang today.
Around 35 farmers from Taothong and adjoining villages attended the training programme which was presided by Dr N Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre.
A team of ICAR resource persons consisting of Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, Scientist Agri Economics, Dr MA Ansari, Scientist Agronomy, N Arunkumar Singh, Programme Coordinator KVK Imphal West, Kh Hera Singh, STO KVK Imphal West and S Gunamani Singh, SMS KVK Imphal West imparted training and interacted with the farmers.
Dr Prakash explained the farmers about the need and importance of using improved high yielding varieties seeds for increasing farmer's income.
He distributed improved high yielding variety seeds RC Maniphou 7 and 10 to the farmers.
The expert team explained the farmers about the cultivation technique of new improved high yielding varieties, the management of nursery field, plant nutrition, pest and disease management and use of direct paddy seeder.
The benefit and advantage of forming farmer's club to solve the problem of farmers was also highlighted during the programme which was coordinated by M Kesho Singh and Kh Shilla Devi who are the chief coordinator and associate coordinator of the club.
