Kanglei Haraoba cum Lai Haraoba Festival kicks off

Imphal, June 07 2017:
Art and Culture Minister L Jayantakumar Singh has said that the indigenous form of art and culture of the State should not only be protected but is also necessary to be conserved.
Attending the inaugural function of a 3-day Kanglei Haraoba cum Lai Haraoba Festival at Government dance College, Palace Compound, L Jayantakumar Singh expressed concern over the changing trend of art and cultural activities in the State.

Organising such festival will give an opportunity to the students of Government Dance College to show their talents, he added.
He also expressed his desire to organise the Lai Haraoba Festival in a grand manner next year with the participation of the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Commissioner (Culture) RK Nimai said, "We need to maintain the correct form of Lai Haraoba" .
Different cultural activities were also performed by the college students.
