Parakram Parv: Second anniversary of surgical strikes observed

It was two years ago that the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes inside Pakistan occupied Kashmir on Sep 29, 2016.The retaliation by means of multiple surgical strikes to arrest Pakistan sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and killing of 18 soldiers in Uri was a befitting and considered response by the Indian Army.
To celebrate the victory that day two years ago, Assam Rifles observed Parakram Parv.
"Today as we commemorate the 2nd anniversary of surgical strikes, we salute our martyrs who went down fighting the terrorists on the Indian soil and remind the adversary of our capabilities to respond at time and place of our choosing," said a statement issued by PRO IGAR (South) today.
The second anniversary was marked by numerous events organized under command sectors and units spread throughout the area of responsibility IGAR (South).
The main event was organised by Tulihal Battalion at Little Flower School, Imphal where around 1,200 students and 130 NCC Cadet of Manipur Battalion witnessed the saga of valour displayed by the Indian Army in the surgical strikes, said the statement.
The event commenced with welcome song and traditional performance by the students, followed by military band display, display of weapons
and equipment.
The movie on surgical strikes was also keenly watched by students and locals at the school.
Similar events were organised at Navodaya Vidyalaya and multiple places in Imphal by the formation.
The students and locals across Imphal enthusiastically filled the Message Boards with their appreciation and love for the Assam Rifles and the Indian Army.
Students were seemingly encouraged to join the forces and took selfies with Grafitti, soldiers and weapons.
There was an atmosphere of energy and elation amongst the local populace, said IGAR (South).
Asni Kumar, Th Basanta, Brig RK Singh, Dy IG IGAR (South), Col Dadhwal, Col Ops 9 Sector and Offg CO 5 JAK Rif Lt Col Shishir Srivastava along with Principal of Little Flower School attended the occasion.
Spear Corps celebrates Parakram Parv 'Parakram Parv' was celebrated by Spear Corps today in the North Eastern States to showcase the courage, valour and sacrifice of Indian Armed Forces, , said a statement of PIB (Defence Wing) today.
A number of events were organized in the State capitals at Kohima, Imphal, Aizawl, Agartala and Itanagar and also at Rangapahar, Punglwa, Shamatore, Tizit, Tuensang, Mon, Mokokchung and Zunheboto in Nagaland, Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh, Likabali and Dinjan in Assam and at Leimakhong and Churachandpur in Manipur.
Similar events were organised at Military cantts, schools, colleges and Assam Rifles" Battalion Headquarters locations under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) in Nagaland.
Events in Manipur were conducted by Red Shield Division and under the aegis of IGAR (South) and similarly in Dinjan by Dao Division.
A large section of NCC Cadets throughout the State, in their respective schools and colleges celebrates the day.
Over 25 institutions all over Manipur and about 1,500 NCC cadets participated in the commemoration.
Spear Head Division conducted events in Likabali and Itanagar and similarly in Agartala and Aizawl under aegis of IGAR (East).
The events showcased movies and photographs depicting valour and courage of the Armed Forces, display of weapons and equipment used by Indian Army, performance of Military Bands and conducted ex-servicemen rallies at select venues.
The event received overwhelming support from all sections of public including school children and college students.
A large number of retired veterans also participated in these events.
The professionalism and resilience of Indian Army was appreciated by the public at large.
Meanwhile, the 85th Battalion CRPF Lamphelpat too commemorated the surgical strikes day at its complex today.
Weapon display and demonstration to the students were the main event of the celebration.
Speaking at the event, 85th Bn CRPF Commandant, Kalyan Singha said that event was organised to commemorate the surgical strike.
The surgical strike which was carried out by the Indian soldiers at POK was a response of the September 18, 2016 Uri attack, he said.
