Minister assures hike in welfare package for disabled

Imphal, November 25 2013:
A day-long awareness campaign on the theme 'Alone We May, Together We Can, Lets Join Hands Towards a Better and Inclusive Society' organized by Spastic Society of Manipur was held at GM Hall here today with Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, AK Mirabai informed that the State Government has been trying to increase the welfare package for disabled persons in all the nine districts of the State and added that 3 percent job reservation for disabled persons has been implemented in the Social Welfare Department without any bias and favoritism.
Stating that disabled persons are also citizens of the country and that they are also entitled to all the rights insured in the Constitution, the Minster called upon them to come up in their respective field and contribute their mite for the development of the country.
During the campaignm certificates were distributed to altogether 18 disabled persons including blind and sportpersons who have taken part in sports and other activities.
Today's programme was also attended by K Radhakumar, DC Imphal West as President while H Rupachandra, Joint Secy of Department of Social Welfare and Th Mano, Addl Registrar of Co-operative Society as Guests of Honour.
