Bandh may have been relaxed but stir would continues: CSOs

Imphal, December 24 2012: The indefinite Manipur bandh, which was imposed since December 22 may have been relaxed till midnight of December 26 in view of Christmas, but the agitation over the demand for arresting NSCN (IM) cadre RV Livingstone, who molested film actress Momoco and attempted to kill another two male artistes during a musical concert at Chandel district headquarters on December 18, still continues, leaders of various organizations have stated.

In a press conference at the office of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) at Kwakeithel here today, which was attended by leaders of various CSOs of the State, KT Rehman, President of AMUCO and Y Nabachandra, President of UCM pointed out that Manipur is a home to various ethnic communities following different religions and every community respecs the customs, traditions and religions of the other community.

Speaking on behalf of all the other CSOs present, they further stated that we should not let one individual by the name of Livingstone Anal of NSCN-IM cause any problem to the existing age-long relationship, mutual love and respect among different ethnic communities.

Livingstone Anal cannot represent the whole Nagas or the whole Anals.

The agitation we are launching is against the Indian Government and the State Government, which have not been able to able to defend the state or the country from such individuals and their attempt to drive wedge among the people.

Livingstone is a beast in the guise of human and wandering scotfree among our midst.

His beastly conduct towards Momoco and the other two artists is a direct affront to whole human race.

So, he should not be spared by any organizations in the State and until and unless, he is caught and given befitting punishment, the ongoing public agitation would continue, they made it clear.

Furthermore, they demanded that there should not be any designated camp of NSCN-IM in Manipur since the cease fire agreement signed between the Naga rebel group and Government of India does not extend here.

All the existing camps of NSCN-IM in the State should be destroyed by the State and India government at the earliest.

If this cannot be done, the cease fire between the NSCN-IM and the Indian Government should be abrogated.

While reacting against the killing of Journalist Dwijamani by Manipur Police, leaders of all the CSOs who were present on the occasion observed two minutes silence and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.

They also demanded dismissal of the police personnel involved in the killing.

Appealing to the JAC formed against the killing of Dwjamani not to harbor any discontentment against Film Forum Manipur, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and the supporting CSOs, the leaders of CSOs informed that during the bandh relaxation period, all types of agitations, sit-in-protests and public meeting would be held to press the demand for handing over Livingstone to the public.

They also appealed to the public not to do anything which might incite communal violence in the State.

A Langdon, Advisor of CLK; Sunil Karam, President of NIPCO; Phunildro Konsam, Chairman of COHR; E Johnson, President of IPSA; S Romita, Vice President of AMUCO and L Sanajaoba, Publicity Secretary of HERICOUN were among others who were present during the press conference.
