Imphal, June 23 2012:
Reacting against non-sanctioning of salaries of the teachers in the name of collecting Computerised Personnel Information System (CPIS) data, Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) has warned the state government of launching intense agitation if their salaries are not released at the earliest.
Addressing a press meet, Co-Convenor of COTA Ch Santakumar said that the government has held up sanctioning of salaries for four months for old teachers and seven months for newly recruited Primary teachers in the name of collecting CPIS data.
He lamented that it is not fair to relate collection of CPIS data and salaries in Education Department only while the two matters have not been related in other departments.
Due to non-sanctioning of salaries for many months, teachers are facing problems in maintaining their families.
If the government keeps ignoring the government teachers, its impact will be felt on the poor students who are studying in the government schools, he added.
