Ukhrul, January 16, 2012:
With the schedule of Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's visit to Manipur already set in order, supporters of Naga People's Front (NPF), Manipur Unit have started engaging in hectic campaign for the forthcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections slated for January 28. Detailing the schedule of his visit, the Itinerary Programme issued by S.Kho John, General Secretary, NPF Manipur Unit said, the Nagaland Chief Minister will visit Tamenglong on January 19, at 11 am, Chandel on 21 January at 10:30am and Ukhrul on January 21 at 1pm.On the other hand, a statement of Publicity Wing, NPF-Ukhrul Kendra said that United Naga Council (UNC) has started carrying out a public awareness campaign in the interior hill areas of Manipur inhabited by the Naga people so that any of the 12 NPF candidates do not miss the train in the ensuing elections of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
On many occasions, the Naga apex body has made it clear that its intervention in any matter related to Naga issue in the State of Manipur is to make the Naga people realize how they have been subjugated and how their aspirations have been marginalized under the diktat of artificial boundaries drawn by the Government of India without the consent of the Nagas.
It was during such a moment when the Nagas of Manipur were feeling a deep sense of alienation that NPF as the only political platform of the Nagas invaded the hearts of Nagas living in different parts of Manipur, the statement said.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul AC NPF candidate Samuel Risom today campaigned along with his workers in Pharung, Simtang, Lamlang and other neighbouring villages in the district of Ukhrul.
