Imphal, February 08, 2012:
Hmar People's Convention (D) condemned the murder of Gideon Joute s/o Saplienthang Joute of Rengkai, Churachandpur in the night of February 5 allegedly by expelled HPC (D) cadres led by one Vanlalsawm Ralte alias Sawma alias Oliver Hmar.
In a statement, Information and Publicity Secretary of HPC (D) Jackie Hmar said these cadres were expelled for terrorizing innocent civilians in connivance with jawans of a particular paramilitary force and expressed regret that a section of Indian Security forces posted in Churachandpur are being misled by these expelled cadres.
Jackie disclosed that the accused Vanlalsawm Ralte alias Sawma alias Oliver Hmar is the same person who was arrested in Tipaimukh recently for intimidating voters to cast votes in favour of a particular candidate.
He is also the same person who is wanted along with his other accomplices namely Lalropui Hmar, Lalbieknung Hmar, Lalthanglien Hmar and Lalbeisei Hmar by Mizoram police in connection with the murder of journalist-activist Isaac Lalmalsawm Hmar s/o Dr Laldena at Beraw Tlang, Aizawl on April 18, 2006.They have also been trying to do away with President Lalhmingthanga Sanate ever since their 'impeachment claims' failed to find any takers within the Hmar community.
However, on the request of Hmar Inpui and Hmar Christian Leaders' Forum, HPC (D) has been exercising restraint even though these expelled cadres have been provoking for confrontation on numerous instances, Jackie added, while conveying condolences to the family members of late Gideon Joute.
