Imphal, September 28 2009: The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has urged the people to cherish the aspirations and follow the footsteps of Hijam Irabot in order to make the land free from wailing and crying on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irabot which falls on September 30 .

Saying that Hijam Irabot was a true leader, a statement issued by the publicity secretary of RPF, T Leishemba remembered Hijam Irabot as an honest and uncorrupted leader who has the love for the people and who can sacrifice for the poor and the needy.

It added the memory of Irabot will never wane away until doomsday.

The RPF statement noted that numerous live have been lost in the past due to HIV/AIDS.

Amidst all the pains suffered by the people due to this, the killings trend unleashed by the security forces has put the existence of the people of the state in peril.

The capitalists-turned politicians of the state have added fuel to the burning fire of unrest of the people.

It noted that one in every household or some have suffered at the hands of security forces due to one or other reasons.

Stating that the sacrificial spirit of Irabot for the people of the state was a high leadership quality, the statement observed that the present government has resorted to money and muscle power.

Under this regime the people have suffered more than the people had suffered at the hands of Awa rulers during the Seven Years Devastation.

It further noted that the number of people killed during the regime of Ibobi is ten times more than the number of soldiers killed during the Khongjom war.

The statement alleged that CM Ibobi and his ministers have continued to carry on their demeanour to defeat the purpose of the statues of brave Manipuri women - who fought against the British - located at Nupi Lal complex, just in front of CM's Bungalow.

The Nupi Lan (Women's war) of July 6, 1904 and December 12, 1939 were the only wars that were fought between heavily armed soldiers and unarmed womenfolk.

The British might not receive any praise or accolade for fighting those wars.

CM Ibobi has now resorted to imitate that British's wars which were fought long time ago.

Some people might have deridingly stated that it was not only the British who launched a war against the Manipuri people but the people themselves have also fought a war against their women.

The statement observed that various bravery awards have been given and recommended to the Manipur Police Commandos who used to beat and commit various atrocities to womenfolk.

It can be said that there is no leader like Lamyanba Irabot among the present leaders of the state.

The people have to cautiously scan the motives of the politicians who pretend to idolize Lamyanba Irabot in order to amass votes from the people.

It stated that the posterity might blame the people of the present age if the 'oppressed' people fail to take collective decision for the betterment of the future and society within September.

Saying that true leadership means sacrificing for the people, that quality is not in the present leaderships.

It calls for the people to take collective decision, in accordance with the aspirations of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, to free the people from chaos.
