Imphal, May 19 2009:
Dee Abonmai, a noted filmmaker of the Liangmei community, who was honoured with a citation and a gift for his contribution to films in the hill areas on the occasion of Romi Meitei's Thoibi on Thursday, May 14, has expressed profound gratitude to the organisers and sponsors for the occasion.
The occasion held at the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre in Imphal honour filmmakers and personalities from the four hill districts of Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong.
The occasion was held to commemorate the songs and lyrics written by Romi Meitei, a noted Manipuri filmmaker and was also performed by various artists of the state on the occasion.
Expressing his gratitude, Dee Abonmai asserted being honoured by the people of the valley was a great sign of encouragement for the people of the hills.
This is a kind of reformation, Abonmai told NNN adding the joy he felt was far beyond the joy he felt in making three of the Liangmei movies he's made so far.
Besides the citation and the gift, given a chance to speak infront of the valley brethrens on the occasion was nothing beyond, he added.
The noted Liangmei filmmaker also thanked Romi Meitei for the wonderful encouragement.
