Imphal, December 12 2010:
A girl student who is studying in class Eleven in Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary school was directed to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur by denying form fill up for the upcoming council exam.
Reacting to the act of Council, the All Manipur Students' Gaurdians Association in a press meet held today at its office at Palace Compound, said that Thingom Ranjita of Singjamei Chinga Makha was denied to submit form for the upcoming council exam and asked to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 as her name was found enrolled in Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School and Ideal Girls' College.
Ranjita is studying in Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School in class Eleven Arts.
But Council did not give her form for the upcoming exam alleging her that she is enrolled in two different schools.
Ranjita took admission forms for Ideal Girls' College but she did not submit it nor did she admit herself in the college.
Instead she admitted herself in Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School.
The matter came up when Ideal Girls' College submitted her name to the council for the upcoming exam.
When the matter came up, Council intimated the two schools but no response came from the two schools.
Instead of investigating the case, Council is asking Ranjita to pay a fine of Rs 10,000 if she wants to appear in the examination.
By keeping the condition, Council is violating the Right to Education of a student.
The association appealed Council to allow the student to appear the examination without any trouble by lifting the conditions given to her.
If Council fails to do so, the association will take legal help, said N Tombi, Advisor of the association.
