Bomb explodes at MLA's gate; locals protest

Imphal, October 21 2015:
One bomb suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which was planted by unidentified miscreants exploded at the residential gate of Keirao A/C MLA Karam Thamarjit of Kyamgei Mamang Leikai under Irilbung Police Station on Wednesday at around 12.52 am.
Irilbung Police Station OC Sarat and a bomb expert team of Manipur Police inspected the site on Wednesday morning.
Police recovered few splinters of the bomb from the site.
After the blast, the unknown miscreants also fired few rounds of bullet from the river side.
6th IRB personnel were guarding the MLA when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, protesting against the blast, people of Keirao A/C staged a sit-in on Wednesday at the gate of the MLA's house.
MLA Thamarjit said that he had no personal enmity with anyone and had not received any demand.
Condemning the incident, Secular Muslim Development Committee Keirao Kendra President Adrish Ali asked the authorities not to let such acts repeat.
Chingmee Tammee Unity Development Keirao President C Sylevester also condemned the incident and asked the authorities to clarify on the incident.
Young Stars' Union, Kyamgei strongly condemned the blast and appealed all not to repeat such acts again.
