Condolences pour in for former PM

As the Nation mourns the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, many organisations, student union and political parties have expressed condolence and deep sorrow.
Vajpayee, 93, died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday evening after a prolonged illness.
The Bharat Sevak Samaj, Manipur State Branch, Imphal convened "a condolence meeting" in honour of the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who died Thursday, at the conference hall of Mass Hotel at 5.30 pm today under the chairmanship of H Borbabu Singh, retired Govt teacher.
Ex Minister and chairman BSS Manipur H Kangjamba Singh on behalf of the samaj expressed deep sorrow and stated that Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister who opened a bus service between India and Pakistan to foster goodwill relationship between the two countries.
He was a friend of kishan and mazdoors/NGOs.
He cared for army personnel and even visited Kargil to encourage the soldiers fighting for the country, Kangjamba said.
"He was a bright star "Dhruvatara" among us and will always remain a path finder for the poor and farmers," said a statement of BSS Manipur State Branch today.
The members of the BSS State Branch prayed 5 minute in silence for the departed soul.
Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India too conveyed deep sorrow over the demise of the former Prime Minister.
The CPI in its statement said that the former PM was a liberal veteran Parliamentarian.
His demise is a great loss for the Nation, conveyed the statement and expressed deep condolence to the bereaved family members.
All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union also convened a condolence meeting and conveyed deep condolence to the bereaved family members, near and dear ones of the former Prime Minister.
"The demise of an iconic leader Vajpayee is an irreparable loss of the country," said Rajen Thapa, publicity secretary AMGSU in a statement today.
The meeting observed two minute silence in honour of the late PM.
President of AMGSU LB Adhikari and secretary Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union (MGWU) Shiva Kumar Basnet and members attended the condolence meeting.
All units of the AMGSU and MGWU too held condolence meeting and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members of the former PM.
The former Prime Minister's funeral was conducted at central Delhi's Rashtriya Smriti Sthal today.
