Employees postpone cease work strike

Imphal, July 17 2011:
The proposed indefinite cease work strike of the state government employees has been postponed for 23 days following an understanding with the government authority.
On July 15 the state government had asked the striking bodies to postpone their stir till August 31 so that they could discuss the demands of the employees and pensioners.
JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO on the following day decided to postpone the proposed cease work strike for 23 days.
"If the government fails to consider our demands on or before August 9,we'll resume the stir from August 10", said a press note.
The demands include the merger of 50 per cent dearness allowance with basic pay/pension effective from April 1,2004 and due arrears be paid for 44 months with effect from April 1,2004 onwards, revision of minimum wages,duty allowances, mess allowances, disturbed area allowances and lifting of ban on direct recruitments etc.
