Chemically treated mosquito nets distributed

Under the supervision of Malaria Department's N shantikumar, social worker N Itomba Meetei along with volunteers of Keirao Bitra Loumee Lup, ILU, YDCC, LMYC and health workers of ASHA distributed over 300 chemically treated mosquito nets to residents of Keirao Awang Leikai and Keirao Makha Leikai.
Interacting with the locals today on the sideline of the programme, Itomba emphasised that families rearing pigs or residing close to pens need to take utmost care as they are most vulnerable to vector borne diseases.
Based on reports of positive cases of malarial infection treatment of mosquito nets with approved chemical/s and distribution of the protective material was initiated to prevent outbreak of vector borne diseases, said the social worker who assured that similar programmes would be undertaken in other localities of Keirao assembly constituency.
Further conveying that Malaria Department has approved fogging activities in residential pockets, he also informed that using chemically treated mosquito nets in necessary for mosquitoes invading homes cannot be ruled out.
YDCC secretary H Jadumani pledged to extend all possible cooperation to any future endeavour of the social worker.
