Just like people who are computer illiterate being considered uneducated in the past, the time has come for individuals who do not understand how to read and write in Meetei Mayek to be regarded as uneducated in Manipur, Additional Director of Education (S)-(Valley) Ranjan Yumnam has exclaimed.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the function for releasing the 6th edition of monthly journal "Pandam" being published in Meetei Mayek, in his office chamber at the State Secretariat building, Babupara here today.

We need to follow this pattern as following what is good will do us no harm.
While urging the people of the State to be proud of their native script and language, Ranjan Yumnam further pointed out that even the Nobel Prize winning novel 'Gitanjali' of Rabindranath Tagore was written in Bengali script and it was translated in English only after it had won the Nobel Prize in 1913 .
