Parliament panel to take stock of development projs in State

Imphal, September 14 2013 :
Sept 14: A team of Parliamentary Committee on Estimates comprising 25 MPs and five officials would be arriving at Imphal on September 29 to assess the developmental works being taken up in the State including Imphal-Jiribam-Tupul Railway project.
According to a reliable source, before coming to Manipur, the team would be first visiting Orissa, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Mizoram.
The team would start off from Bhubaneshwar on September 25.On September 28, the team would land at Mizoram by an Air India flight 733 at 12:30 pm.
From there, the team would arrive at Imphal at around 1:10 pm on September 29 .
The team would be meeting the officials of North East Frontier Railway and discuss the progress of work on Imphal-Jiribam-Tupul railway line construction.
They would also be discussing other projects being taken up by North East Frontier Railways apart from the one in Manipur.
On the second day of their visit, the team members would also attend a discussion session on development of textile industries in the North East.
The Committee had already given information to all the concerned State officials to get themselves prepared for providing all the necessary information to be sought during the discussion session.
The source further revealed on September 25, the team members would discuss issues related of digging of mines and its environmental impact with the Orissa Government.
On September 26, the team will be in Jharkhand to discuss police modernization process in that State.
On September 27, the team will take up the issue of preserving birds in Orissa Bird Sanctuary.
The team would also be discussing matters related to Central Board of Direct Tax examination with the CCIT officials at Kolkata on September 28.The team will then proceed for Mizoram on the same day, hold a night there and come to Imphal on September 29 .
