15 killed in fake encounters: UNLF

United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has alleged that Manipur Police Commandos have killed at least 15 innocent people in fake encounter from January 12 to February 7. In a statement, the proscribed outfit asserted that even though the commandos claimed to have killed them in encounters and recovered arms from their possession, there are evidences which showed that all of them were killed in fake encounters.
Any person who regularly reads newspaper can tell easily whether the encounters were real or fake.
Even family members refuted the claim of the commandos as the innocent victims were either arrested or called out from their houses through mobile phones.
UNLF contended that N Puni and Thingujam Bheigo, who were killed by a combined team of Imphal East CDOs and 18 Sikh Regiment on January 12 at Taobungkhok, have been called out by one SI Uttam of Imphal East district Police Commandos through Bheigo's mobile number 9856272776 from his Nongada house.
Thongam Bungbung of Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai, who was killed by Imphal West Commandos and 40 AR on January 13 at Lambal-Heinoubok Road was an innocent carwash-man.
He was arrested by Imphal West CDOs from his rented house at Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai.
Thangjam Anil alias Thoi son of Th Sharat of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, who was killed at Naran Konjin on January 14 was also claimed to an innocent person by family members and local people.
Md Abdul Haque, Moirangthem Ibungo and Thokchom Dinanta were also killed at Iroisemba-Lamdeng Road on January 15 in fake encounters.
Furthermore, UNLF pointed out that Md Isaac son of Moulvi Abdul Azad and Md Mustaqin on of Abdul Hassan of Lilong Chaobok Mairenkhun, who were killed at Keirao Khullen on January 18 were also arrested by Imphal West CDOs from Kakwa.
Md Jamir of Keirao Makting who was killed at Lilong Santipur was also arrested by Imphal West CDO on his way to home.
He was an employee of a Dental Clinic at Paona Keithel.
Sagolsem Jiten of Kongba Nongthombam Leikai, who was killed at Yaralpat on January 26, was arrested while coming out to buy charcoal from a nearby shop.
The charcoal sack and the bicycle were found at the shop.
Ahanthem Amujao from Sawombung Gate was also killed in fake encounter after being tortured by Imphal West Commandos on January 28.His arms and wrists were found broken.
Sanasam David of Sawombung Gate, a surrenderred cadre of UPPK was killed by Imphal West and Imphal East CDOs along with AR personnel of 9 Sector on February 4 to cover their misdeeds of torture and Amujao since local people started suspecting involvement of David in the killing.
Wahengbam Jayenta who was killed by CDOs and AR personnel on February 6 at Phayeng near Don Bosco School was also an innocent person who went out to purchase stone chips and sands.
He had Rs 30,000 when he went out of his house.
Thongam Sana, who was killed by CDOs near Vale Academy, was another innocent person who was killed after being arrested by the CDOs on his way to Bishnupur to attend an Army Recuitment Rally.
Expressing serious concern over increasing fake encounters committed by Police CDOs, who are not even under the protection of AFSPA, UNLF further alleged that the Indian Security Forces are using the state police forces to carry out the such heinous crimes to keep themselves away from the criticism of the world.
While urging the public to raise their voice against such crimes, UNLF has also questioned why should the people of the state remain silent watching these crimes and wait for their turn.
