Imphal, December 10 2014:
While commenting on the ongoing stalemate over Boxer Sarita's ban by world boxing body AIBA for alleged indiscipline in the medal ceremony of Incheon Asian games, first Olympian of Manipur P Nilakamal has stressed that discipline is the first priority of the players in sports.
Saying that the issue has been heightened with even the famous Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar putting his pressure in favour of the woman boxer, Nilakamal said 'whatever be the game, all players need to understand that decision of judges is the final in sports' .
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, one-time Hockey Goalkeeper lamented that there was no Indian official to press for Sarita after the unfortunate incident happened.
Recalling that the player herself did everything to get justice, Nilakamal asserted that a player representing the country in the Asiad should have been upheld with due regard, as such players are precious asset of the nation.
Even though she committed certain undesirable things which remain historic in the Boxing event, the Olympian opined that AIBA, instead of suspending Sarita, must come out with the facts of the incident for the knowledge of the people around the globe.
