G Panti endorses AFSPA repeal in Hongkong meet

Human rights activist G Pantibonliu Alias Panti Gonmei, who is representing Indian women at the UN International Day against Tortures observed in Hongkong University on 26th June, 2012, asserted that AFSPA should be repeal and action be taken against rape cases in India with special reference to Manipur state.
She presented case study report of Human Rights violation including frequent sexual assault against women in Manipur in particular and India.
She strongly appealed for all out support of the Asian Women gathered in Hongkong on the occasion, on the demand for the repeal of AFSPA Act 1958 from North East and action against torture of women.
She mentioned in her paper the decade old hunger strike launched by Irom Chanu Sharmila against AFSPA, women empowerment with special reference to the first women village heads K.Dithonliu of Abungachiang village and G.Pricilla of Gongtoulong village in the man dominated Naga society and tradition, gang rape of G.Jangthailiu Kamei by IRB and Police Personnel at Keinou Bazar, rape of another girl at Kakching Cheirao hill, attack on minority Christian churches, the inactiveness of Indian authority on Human Rights, etc.
