AMADA'S anti-drug drive in full swing

The Drug Free Campaign being organized by All Manipur Anti Drug Association (AMADA) in connection with the 4th General Panchayat Elections is in full swing with third phase of the campaign held at Yairipok Top Chingtha under Imphal East district today.
Speaking on the topic "Impact of Drug Use in Election", S Irananda, Executive member of Community on Network for Empowerment (CoNE), said that the temptation to use drugs is more during election time.
Teenagers are most likely to fall victim to drugs during elections because it is during this time that candidates spend huge amount of money to woo voters and electors enjoy their money organizing parties and big feasts.
And that is how youths fall prey to drugs.
Meihoubam Rakesh, Director, Human Rights Law Network, speaking on the topic "Impact of Drug Use in Election" said that with the Right to Information (RTI) Act implemented in the state, all information regarding any development works taken up by the government in rural areas can be easily known through this Act.
Ng Tejkumar, Director, Law and Prosecution, who was also present on the occasion, spoke on the topic "Drug and Domestic Violence'' .
General Secretary of AMADA, Ph Phoni delivered the key note address.
Vice President of AMADA Mayai Loishang, Y Sundari Leima and Asem ongbi Ibetombi, President of Apunba Lamjing Meira Lup were also present as Presidium members.
